One of the founding members of the UK chapter of ILEA in 1998, Mark has over 20 years of experience in the events industry. Working both supplier and agency side has given him a well rounded experience with roles for the likes of Thorns furniture hire, Create caterers, and ExCeL London. Mark’s agency experience includes 7 years at Imagination as Senior Production Manager and his current role as Head of Technical Production for George P Johnson where he has been for the past 8 years. Mark is often responsible for selecting venues for a range of international events including Sibos - taking place at ExCeL later this year and Cisco Live - an event that attracted 16000 delegates to the Fira Barcelona this January.

Carsten has a long 10 years+ history in the event tech space starting his first gig at event tech startup amiando/XING Events in Munich, Germany. As a qualified digital marketer, self-taught web developer, and with his deep interest in (meeting) design, Carsten is able to cut through the noise and approach event tech solutions with the software user and attendee in mind. Carsten lives in Caversham, Berkshire, together with his wife and one year old baby boy Sidney-Kristian. When not online or looking after little one, you can find Carsten sailing, golfing or lifting barbells.

A specialist in the world of business events, Ken is an Associate Director at Davies Tanner where his clients include VisitScotland, Visit Wales and the International Convention Centre Wales. Ken has worked on a number of high profile events including the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the Tour De France. He is a former Communications Director at Visit London and has worked in tourism and hospitality for many years. He is also an experienced professional coach and mentor.

Currently working for one of the UK's largest communications, video, digital, creative, design, print, exhibition and live events group, DRPG. With over 280 team members, who help businesses across a wide range of sectors engage their internal and external audiences for the continued success of their organisation. He keeps up to date on the trends in the world of PR, marketing and all things social media in both internal and external comms, whilst promoting the services of DRPG and at times getting stuck into projects.

He is a vocal supporter of apprenticeship schemes in the events sector.

Born in London, Matt Thomas’ driving force has always been hospitality. Having spent his early and formative years in the US, studying at the University of New Hampshire on the East coast for his Bachelor of Science, Matt went on to secure employment with Marriott Hotels on the West Coast. Five years later, he returned to the UK. Still fascinated by the academic side of the industry, he pursued a postgraduate diploma in personnel management at the University of Portsmouth, whilst working in London for Compass. Matt has been with WSH since 2002, when he joined what is now BaxterStorey as a Sales Manager. He went on to become an Operations Director and in 2008 was appointed London Managing Director for BaxterStorey. He has also held responsibilities for HR and marketing, and has been instrumental in assisting with acquisitions, mobilisations and start-ups for the group. In 2017 Matt was promoted to the role of Managing Director for Searcys by Alastair Storey, WSH’s Chairman.

A regular contributor to Slingshot Sponsorship’s external communications, Kieran has a strong background in partnerships where he initially made his mark in the marketing & sponsorship department of his home town rugby club, Worcester Warriors, supporting commercial activity as the team rose into the Premiership. Rebecca has been producing events for the non-profit sector for 15 years, working in events teams for top 100 UK charities such as The Children’s Society, Sparks and Great Ormond Street Hospital, and raising over £25m during that time. She was one of the founding members and is former Chair of the Charity Sector Special Events Forum, a free platform for sharing best practice and expertise, now with over 500 members. Rebecca set up Coveted Events to deliver high profile fundraising events and international conferences for charities and foundations, delivering authentic and content-led experiences, from intimate dinners at Buckingham Palace to 2,000-delegate international conferences. Established in 2014, alongside delivering the events portfolio for Ark and BAFTA, the team’s client list includes the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, Garfield Weston Foundation, Global Schools Forum, Grassroot Soccer, The Royal Foundation, Sohn Foundation, Ubuntu Pathways, Unicef UK and Wellbeing of Women.
